Get ready for fees and charges reform

To ensure more efficient use of public healthcare services, the public healthcare new fees and charges will take effect on 1 January 2026. Preparations are in full swing to ensure a smooth transition. To help staff fully grasp the updated workflows and fee schedule, the Hospital Authority Head Office (HAHO) has organised a series of practical drills, thematic staff forums, and training sessions, and has produced training materials and frequently asked questions, as well as set up an enquiry hotline for clusters to facilitate seamless implementation.
"The reform covers a wide range of services, including inpatient, accident and emergency, outpatient, day services, pathology testing service, and radiology imaging, with many new itemised charges introduced. Hence, establishing clear patient workflows is of utmost importance. Colleagues at HAHO have maintained close communication with clusters and devoted considerable effort to streamline the processes, laying a solid foundation for the successful implementation of the fees and charges reform," says Dr Wong Yiu-chung, Director of Cluster Services of the HA.
Dr Wong also emphasised the key role of the HA mobile app ‘HA Go' in facilitating the reform. The ‘Health in Your Hand - HA Go Just One Click Away' promotion campaign was recently launched to encourage the public to download ‘HA Go' and make full use of the app's features. The HA is committed to making comprehensive preparations to ensure the successful rollout of the new fees and charges.
